When life is not as it should be, and the simplest tasks take tremendous effort we are called to lift our soul to God and seek refuge and shelter. When the world spins as it should, we are still called to lift our souls to God for praise and thanks. 24/7 prayer can be interpreted in various ways, but one significant way would be walking with God throughout every day.

Without a doubt, God yearns for his children to come to him with burdens to heavy to carry. He is a personal God that cares about every aspect of his follower’s lives, but this is only part of the responsibility of prayer. There is a whole other aspect of prayer and that is to lift up God and shout prayers of praise and thanksgiving. 24/7 prayer could also be interpreted as the soul of every Christian meditating on the will of God. The daily walking with God, acknowledging him above all else as the Alpha and the Omega; the beginning and the end.

There are times in the Bible when troubled individuals would spend hours lifting up concerns to God in Heaven. Throughout the Bible God honored these individuals because their persistence in seeking him regarding the situation demonstrated true desire for change. Prayers that are petitioned as 24/7 prayers demonstrates a true heart seeking God’s will.

Surely with the burdens that weigh our souls down require longer communion with God than those of lesser value. Ought he to not get as much amount of time as our other good friends? The culture today will spend hours with friends in social settings, yet statistics show that mere minutes of the day is set aside for God.

Jesus personally gave examples of the importance of spending time with God. The most significant example is in the details of right before he was captured by Roman Soldiers and taken into custody. He spent hours in deep prayer in the Garden, so long that his disciples continuously fell asleep while keeping watch. One of the best answers to how important is a focus on 24/7 prayers, would be that there were periods in Jesus’ life where he did this very thing.

One of the most noted scriptures in the Bible is when Jesus stated, “ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened” (NKJ version). This scripture does not merely say “ask and it will given”, it points out “ask, seek, and knock”. Jesus words this to show that persistence is the key to true petitioning to God.

Many argue that if God is all powerful and compassionate then why would a request need to be petitioned for hours? Wouldn’t one request be just as significant as repeating it numerous times? They use this as an excuse to pull away from God. One must always keep in mind that God works in a different space of time than mankind does. In the quiet moments of patience, God can work on the heart as well as the situation.

For the weary hearted, the thought of offering a 24/7 prayer should offer hope regardless to if you are referring to walking daily with God, or endlessly lifting up petitions to him. We worship a personal God, which desires nothing more than to become a significant part of our most intimate personal lives. A mindset of 24/7 prayer, without a doubt, is the act of vigorously seeking God’s face.
