Despite its well noted short-comings, the American Government is still the greatest government on earth and one that many model their government to be like. Just as how we borrowed from others, countries continue to borrow from the United States today.

You may have a particular beef with the American government. Perhaps a man who murdered your friend was let off thanks to the “insanity plea?” Maybe it’s something less drastic or sensational. Whatever the reason, there is something that really irritates you about the American government.

It’s understandable. It’s also understandable to forgive and remember that the American government, like us, is far from perfect.

The American government is great for a number of reasons. First off, nationalities from all over the world are allowed to live right next to each other. Secondly, we’re all free to practice and celebrate any religion we so desire. We’re granted many rights like the freedom of speech and press.

The innocent are helped proven not guilty through our court system and appeal process. People are not tortured nor punished in prison as comparison to other countries. The police enable protection but also are punished when they get out of line.

We’re all free to buy and sell anything we so desire through a capitalistic government. We can make a living anyway we so desire. We all make different incomes based on the amount of work we put into our job or the success of our business.

The American government has created a society that is very much free. We all can express our free will to do just about anything we want as long as it does not break any laws.

Even the power of the President is somewhat controlled by Congress and the Supreme Court.

But like I said before, the American government falls short in certain areas and circumstances. Prayer for American government is a necessity that every Christian in the States should take advantage of.

The most popular prayer for American government centers more on a plea to return to the old values and morals of our forefathers. You’ve obviously heard the term “one nation under God.” Some groups of Americans want to take God out of everything when associated with the American government. This is not right. While we’re all free to believe and practice whatever religion we so desire, we’re also entitled to support and uphold the values of our forefathers.

If they say that it’s “one nation under God,” than it should remain one nation under God. I understand that things change and amendments are updated or removed altogether. The basis for our country should not be jeopardized.

Pray to God and request that his name remains intact and a part of both our country and our government.

Prayer for American government sobriety is another popular prayer. When you are sober you are considered level-headed and clear. When you pray for sober politicians and American leaders you are not so much praying that they refrain from alcohol but more that they refrain from biased judgments or ill-advised decision. If you have a clear mind you should know what is right and what needs to get done. Some Christians also pray for Christian leaders in the White House, Congress, and other sectors of the American government.

Jesus, we ask that your presence comes before us today. And as your presence reaches our home and hearts, we also pray that it reaches the homes and hearts of our American leaders, young and old, which have a passion to serve this great country. We ask Father that they do not follow the ways or temptations of the world. We ask, rather, that they follow the guidance and advice of none other but Jesus Christ. We pray that America continues to be a nation under God that puts you first and foremost. We ask that our rights are not continually stripped day in and day out. We thank you for all you have done and that we are truly blessed because we live in a nation as great as this one. Praise be to your name. Amen.
