Prayer for Blessing

Prayer for Blessing

The pastor at my church the other week asked the entire congregation this one simple question, “Would you rather have a life filled with miracles or a life filled with blessings?”

The reactions were mixed but the majority of people raised their hands for a life filled with blessings.

Why?

The pastor had a good way of explaining it. Miracles tend to happen in dire situations or in a situation where God is badly needed. Blessings on the other hand are simpler, abundant, and generally signify a life filled with satisfaction and happiness.

Think about it, when someone says they are blessed you usually think, “Wow, good for them.”

We all want a life full of blessings. Blessings are the closest thing to the materialistic view of wealth and fame. They signify success and true happiness.

Some people may be enjoying a period of great blessing while others may feel like they are in a bottomless pit of despair and lost and hope.

God wants to bless you.

I demand that you drop to your knees, close your eyes, and raise your hands toward heaven. Pray the prayer for blessings in your life. Pray that the blessings are so fluent and abundant, that it rains down on you. Pray that you are so blessed that you almost feel like you need to turn it away because you already have so much.

Prayer for blessings is not a selfish act. God designed us to be blessed. The bible actually says that when we commit our lives to Jesus Christ, we’ll actually receive the world. How you may ask? Well God is the creator of everything, right? If God is good and the things he creates are good, than everything that is good is yours for the taking.

God built an empire of blessings intended for each and every one of us to enjoy. Sadly, a lot of those blessings have been corrupted and shamed by an enemy who is unfair and jealous. The Devil is the bully at the party who is upset that every one else is having fun. So being the sneaky little devious mastermind that he is, the Devil is willing to turn our flesh against us and make the same things that are intended to be blessings into shameful sins.

It’s the constant battle that we Christians face and will continue to face while we live on this earth. The flesh vs. The Spirit. One has to back down and only one can win. Which one do you chase after more?

We are all designed to be perfect as Christ was perfect. We all know that we’ll fall short of perfection. We’re human and it’s built into our DNA. We fail but we rise up again because we have a compassionate and loving God who will not forsake us. But that does not mean we can become satisfied, sin all we want, and pray for forgiveness later on.

No! You see true prayer for blessing results from a life that is close and dear to Jesus. God blesses those that are faithful, wise, and close to his heart. Why did King David receive so much blessing from the Lord our Savior? His heart, as the bible says, was after God’s heart. He truly wanted to be obedient and follow God’s instruction. Sure he messed up quite a bit, but his heart was always in the right place. It’s when his flesh took over that King David made his greatest mistakes.

If we always followed the Spirit then things would be fine. It’s when the flesh intervenes and we obliged that things really turn sour.

We have a bad taste in our mouth because the flesh tastes great for a time being but quickly turns nasty and poor. Our Spirit on the other hand never fades or loses its luster. It’s like old wine that only gets better with age.

Brothers and sisters, sing with me…

Oh, how he loves us
Oh, how he loves us
He loves us
Oh, how he loves us
Oh, how he loves us

Jesus loves you! Rejoice and celebrate that fact. Praise and worship our Father in Heaven with all our heart. Pray with conviction and never lose your faith. God wants to bless each and every one of us. He’s willing to grant great blessings to those who actively want to seek God with all of their heart and mind.

You are blessed. Now go out and show it! Blessings will only continue to pour out for those who truly want to know and love our Lord and Savior. It’s the least we can do considering what he has already done for us.

Say the great prayer for blessings my friends.
