Prayer For Conversion: Discovering God

Prayer For Conversion: Discovering God

“God loved the birds and invented trees.
Man loved the birds and invented cages.”
-Jacques Deval

It is not humanly possible to understand the vast wisdom of God. For most individuals, the Christian walk is compromised of lists of “can not do” verses “can do”. While living in the way of the world, few understand the radical difference that Christ can make in one’s life. Momentary pleasure for the immediate here and now is the ideology of the world. Changing that focus to the pleasure of living in eternity with God is difficult for many. A prayer for conversion should be the heart cry of every Christian in the world.

Deep in the depth of the souls of every human being is the desire for freedom. Freedom to live, worship, and prosper. For individuals that find the Christian walk confining, there is an initial fear of losing “freedom” to follow God. The world’s concept of freedom is based in the root of monetary freedom. Money makes the world go round. To live the life one desires, or in the lifestyle that one wishes, one must have money. Quickly these, so called freedoms, become the master.

Every waking moment is spent slaving for a few moments of “freedom”. Unfortunately, the hunger for worldly “freedom” is a never ending thirst. The concepts of God differ greatly from the concepts of the world. True freedom is opening the cage doors, and letting the bird fly free. The true constraints come from the world, and not that of God. Scripture states that God wishes to give life, and give it more abundantly. A prayer for conversion is a necessity for all unbelievers that are around us.

As Christians, Christ compelled us to convey the life changing freedom that God has offered to all of his children. When Christ issued the Great Commission, it was not to create a community of believers for worshiping a sealed tomb. God is a personal God that wishes to offer true freedom in ways that go beyond mere human understanding. The stone was rolled away, and Christ arose, just as he proclaimed he would. The key difference in Christianity, than that of other world religions is that the tomb is empty! There is not grave to mourn over, or remains to sanctify.

A prayer for conversion is a life changing prayer. It is vital for every human being to understand the true value and importance they have to God. It doesn’t matter where they are in life, how they look, or even how much money they make. God do not see these things, only the world does. God, the creator of every life force known to man, is the only one that can offer true freedom of this world. Christ describes a God to us through scripture that wants nothing more than to see his children fly; not to become satisfied with sitting in a cage.

Every Christian is called to steadily offer prayers for conversion. God is waiting for all of his children to come home. Each and every person walking on this earth has incredible importance to God. Christ invested his life into the lives of those around him. He listened to their fears, concerns, and misery. At all times, no matter the difficulty of the situation, he led them back to God. Jesus offered up numerous prayers for conversion while walking the earth. His complete ministry was a prayer for conversion.

Often times, people retreat and wonder how their small prayers could radically affect the lives of those around them. No prayer offered to God is viewed as small or insignificant. Scripture repeatedly shows examples of individuals petitioning God, and that God found great pleasure from their communication. So many times, we take to God prayers for ourselves. Jesus demonstrated that the opposite of the worlds view is what God is seeking from us. To become less self focused and more outward focused.

Christians in the world today need to take a proactive role in the lives of those around us. Christians are called to the diligent task of taking the message of Christ to the world. Not only does this include the sharing of scriptures, and the story of Christ with them, but also in a prayer for conversion. Prayer is an essential part of communication with God, thus making it a crucial part of the Christian walk. When we share Christ with individuals there also needs to be an offered prayer for conversion. Every effort must be taken in trying to bring Christ to a lost world.
