Prayer for Easter
“And on the third day, he rose again.”
What a powerful message. Jesus Christ had suffered, was tortured, and persecuted through one of the worst forms of death imaginable. Jesus died on a cross to forgive the world for its sin and what separates this story from any other story around is for the fact that it does not end there.

“And on the third day, he rose again.”
Jesus’ mother was devastated like any mother would be and the disciples had abandoned or denied him and now were in mourning. All hope appeared lost. Jesus, the Messiah who was designed to save the Jews from years of persecution was dead. The one man they could finally depend on was no longer dependable. Or was he?
We all know how the story goes so why do we appear as if we ignore it?
Why is Christmas this major holiday filled with a plethora of gifts, sweets, and fellowship while Easter remains this quiet, “uneventful holiday?”
For starters, Easter is anything but “uneventful.” Also it has yet to be poisoned with the same commercialism that Christmas has. It’s pure and quiet. But us Christians know that Easter is anything but quiet. It’s the loudest news of all the news circulating yesterday and today. It’s the basis for our faith and the reason we trust in the Lord God today.
Easter was the end and beginning of everything.
Christians should invite one and another to being a prayer for Easter from the start of April. I personally do not feel that we should reserve the day of Easter for just one day. Sure we can reserve the definition of “celebration” for that day, but we should begin celebration inside our hearts long before that day. In essence, we should celebrate Easter everyday.
Reserve a special prayer for Easter. Thank the Lord first and foremost, for dying on the cross and defying all odds by rising from the dead three days later. The tomb was found empty and we can rejoice in the fact that Jesus is still alive in each and every one of our souls.
“He’s risen!”
I encourage you all to reserve a special prayer for Easter starting with the first day in April. Thank God each and every day for the resurrection and paying the ultimate sacrifice to mankind. Thank God that Christians continue to celebrate this holiday, thousands of years later, where our faith and convictions are constantly tested, mocked, and tempted by both the enemy and the world. Thank the Lord that we are strong like the Lord. Thank the Lord that he is even stronger, a God where nothing is impossible and everything is filled with grace and love.
The church should gather around one and another and say prayer for Easter. We should thank God for this special body of believers. We should thank God that his body, the church, is still standing strong and that the power of prayer is still evident. Thank you God that as you can move the mountains we too, can move people through the power of evangelism, praise and worship, and prayer.
Thank you that every day of every year, more and more people come to know you. Pray as a church body for those believers who may experience Easter truly for the first time. Pray that the youth will fill our hearts back up with the innocence and purity of a new believer.
Prayer is powerful both in the hands of a single voice and when many, many voices join together in harmony. It’s easy to pray alone and in the confines of our own household. It’s more difficult to reach out and pray for strangers or members of the church who you may or may not know well. But God encourages you to do exactly that. Remember the scripture, “Love your neighbor?” Jesus even wants you to pray and love your enemies. Imagine that! You can pray enough. Prayer during Easter is an opportunity to reach out and minister. God holds a special place for the prayer ministry. Who doesn’t want to communicate with each other? So why do we think differently of God? Do we think he just likes sitting up their in the big house talking to himself? Open up those direct lines to heaven.
