Prayer for Humanity

It seems just about any night of the week you can turn on the local news and find a story that makes you think, “What on earth is this world coming to?” It’s sad that we live in a society where bad news is common place. It’s sad that we feed all this bad news and cynical beliefs into our young generation which should be filled with hope and ambition. Humanity does not need happiness. It needs God. We’ve discovered that things like fortune and fame are delusions of happiness that really only add problems rather than take them away. We should have found out by now, but instead we continue to live the lie of the world. Jesus is one and only way. Humanity is forever lost until we all agree upon that fact. Until that day we continue to search blindly in the dark for all the right answers and all the comforts. We’ll find some that work for awhile, but ultimately destroy us. Like I said, the world is one big lie. When you become a born-again Christian you do not instantly have all the answers. Please avoid this misconception. Christianity is not a key to all of life’s troubles. It’s okay as a Christian to have some questions and confusion. Remember that we’re not human and we do make mistakes. While our faith is the most important thing in the world, we still do not always get it right. Sadly, we even sometimes dwell or fixate are eyes on something that is not of God. But we pull ourselves together and continue trucking along. That’s all we can really do. Prayer for humanity is a special prayer that recognizes no one is greater than any other. We all must humble ourselves and remove that false sense of pride. When we pray for humanity we actually pray for ourselves. We reach out for others while also asking for help and healing personally. Removing the blindness of judgment is the first step towards strong prayers for humanity. As Christians we are quick to judge. We read what the bible says about sin and when we find people who do not resemble that person, we instantly rush to judgment. We do not realize that our eyes may deceive us. We do not realize that you cannot judge a book by its cover. Instead we hold our chin up eye and pass the individual without making eye contact. What if that individual is hurting inside? What if that individual desperately needs someone to reach out in love? What if that individual is in search of a Lord and Savior like Jesus Christ? We’ll never know because we just pass right on by. Keep in mind that Christians are not the only group of people in this world who judge a book by its cover or rush to judgment. Keep in mind that those who view Christians as judgmental refuse to remove the own speck from their eye. Keep in mind that Christians are only human yet called to live to a higher standard. I see a society as a whole, not just Christians, who pass by those desperately need of help on the corner. Has the world changed? Are the people changing? I don’t know. I do know that one of the many qualities that made Jesus so personable and popular was for the fact that he reached out to the poor. Jesus was a man with a ministry that was anything but ordinary. In fact, for the King of Kings you would have expected his time on earth to be a little more…well…anything but what the Gospels say. Keep in mind that Jesus was not a man. While he lived and breathed and felt pain like a man, he was so much more internally. Jesus saw beauty where man sees the poor. He had a passion for healing. That same passion would eventually cost him his life from a group of people who were supposed to be the religious scholars and “know-it-alls.” There sudden rush to judgment and lack of strength caused a paranoia that Jesus was somehow out to get them. The same man who healed the sick and blind was going to pull off this amazing coup right? The Philistines were so paranoid they thought so. Prayer for humanity calls and challenges the people of this great earth to rise up and make a stand. Feed the hungry, help the sick, and give to the poor. Jesus’ message is clear. The rich man, in all his pride is greed, is set for internally in hell. But do not mistake that passage. God wants us to have wealth but he wants us to do it as a wise man would. A wise man would not selfishly keep all that wealth. A wise man would take what’s not a need and give the rest to those who do need it. The biggest thing you can do when praying for humanity is to ask God to remove our general sense of selfishness and greed that prevents us from reaching out to others. Some of us are much more blessed than others. God is calling those people to help out those not as fortunate.
